PROGRAM
DAY 1:
Meeting in Pontebernardo and transfer by bus to Barcelonnette, where the first day of walking begins. The excursion corresponds to stage no. 22 of “La Routo” and develops along secondary roads and paths towards La Condamine. It starts by crossing the southwest side, with passages in the woods and grasslands of the valley floor along the course of the Ubaye stream. The path also passes through pretty Jausier and ends in La Condamine. Overnight in a selected structure, dinner and overnight stay.
Length: 15.8 km
Difference in altitude: 410 m
Duration: 5 h
DAY 2:
The second stage is more tiring but the arrival towards the mountain pastures and the views of the destination at Colle della Maddalena are a source of enthusiasm for the entire walk. Stages 23 and 24 join, initially going along the wooded slopes of the shady side, and then going up on the opposite side up to Saint Ours. You go up to Plateau Mallemort, and then go down again towards Larche; last break to refresh and tackle the last stretch towards the goal. Dinner and overnight.
Length: 26.6 km
Difference in altitude: 1610 m
Duration: 9 h
Notes: stage 2 can be divided into 2 days or can be modified on the spot avoiding the different ups / downs and therefore reducing a lot of length and difference in height
DAY 3:
Departure for the first stage that crosses the border, even if the whole climb still develops in French territory in the mountain pastures under the imposing Mount Oronaye. You arrive at the Roburent lakes and then begin the long descent into the valley of the same name as far as Argentera and then Bersezio, for dinner and overnight stay.
Length: 15.0 km
Difference in altitude: 580 m
Duration: 4 h
DAY 4:
From Bersezio you go up the first stretch of the road towards Ferrere, the destination of the day, through spectacular high-altitude pastures. Go up the dirt road in the area of the ski facilities until you enter the Andelplan valley, from which you continue towards the Bassa di Colombart, still close to the border and still in an area rich in mountain pastures, fauna and wild flora. We descend towards Gias di Colombart and end the day in the hamlet of Ferrere, with dinner and overnight stay at the refuge.
Length: 13.8 km
Difference in altitude: 1000 m
Duration: 5 h
DAY 5:
In the last stage, you enter the Forneris valley and then take the Ecomuseum path which, with a long traverse, leads to the Becco Rosso.
